From October 18th to 22nd, 2009, Dr. Zhao Danhua and Dr. Zhang Wenquan of our school attended the 3rd biannual conference of International Association of Societies of Design Research (IASDR) and presented their long papers at the conference. The titles of each paper are: ¡°A Feature-Line-Based Descriptive Model of Automobile Styling and Application in Auto-design¡± and ¡°Semantic Analysis of Chinese Adjectives: A New Approach to Mapping the Form-based Metaphors in Automobile Styling¡±.

On October 11th, 2009, alumni Yuan Jia and Zhang Xu, who are now working for Microsoft as visual designer, visited the School of Design and gave speeches about UI design.

Commissioned by Hunan Provincial Government, the float ¡°Prosperous Hunan¡± designed by the School of Design joined the parade at the grand ceremony of the 60th National Day.

The work of Yi Xingxing and Jiang Yuzhu, two graduates of the School of Design and members of Comdesignlab, was selected by the 4th Block International Triennial of Eco-Poster, category Social Eco Project. This is another breakthrough since our students¡¯ works joined major international poster events in Chaumont, Brno, Venice and the Island of Ithaca.

On July 24th, 2009, the 15-day ¡°New Channel¡± Design and Social Innovation Summer Camp successfully came to an end, each group will continue to perfect their designs based on the result of their observation and investigation.
